Jon & Ashley had a summer camp wedding at Bark Lake Leadership Camp in Ontario. It was the best!
The weather was all over the place that day. One minute it was bright and sunny, and the next it was overcast, windy and rainy. We didn’t know what was going to happen from one minute to the next, but Jon & Ashley rolled with it and enjoyed the day regardless.
The groomsmen started the day with canoe rides and lawn games, followed by a drink and some cigars at a cabin. Meanwhile the ladies enjoyed mimosas during hair and makeup.
Jon & Ashley had planned to do a first look picnic down by the water. But in the hustle and bustle of all things wedding, they realized they never planned for food to bring for their picnic. So at the last minute, Jon grabbed an opened bag of dill pickle chips that he had at the cabin. It was hilarious and perfect, and something we could all laugh about.
The wedding took place lake-side with hand-written vows (my favourite). After the ceremony, Jon & Ashley surprised guests by turning around and heading straight for the lake where they enjoyed a post-ceremony canoe ride before heading back in to spend the rest of the evening with their guests.
I was looking forward to this wedding from the very first email I received from Ashley. I love something a little different, and I love when couples plan a wedding that truly reflects them. Toss away the old traditions that you don’t want, and plan a day that makes you happy. I loved this summer camp wedding!
