Marc & Kayla had the sweetest little Ottawa City Hall Wedding last month. It was such a lovely way to kick off my season; my heart wanted to burst for them.
I first met Kayla over the winter when we got together to talk about their summer 2020 wedding. From that first meeting I knew they were my kind of people, and they were planning my favourite kind of wedding (you know, that cozy backyard kind of wedding). But with welcoming their newest little bundle of love later this spring, they decided they wanted to make things official with an intimate City Hall wedding ceremony with their nearest and dearest family members. So they made it come together, and planned to have a luncheon at Mill Street Brew Pub afterwards to celebrate.
For two weeks leading up to the day, the forecast was calling for rain – and lots of it – the entire day. So with a backup plan for indoor photos in place, the day arrived. And wouldn’t you know. Not a drop of rain until later in the evening, long after their festivities were done. Meant to be.
Marc met family members in the lobby of Ottawa’s City Hall. Then once everyone had arrived, they walked to the ceremony room on the second floor. Kayla’s daughter Aislyn ready with the important duty of holding on to the rings. A quick, and emotional ceremony, followed by lots of hugs and kisses of congratulations from their families. It was so heartwarming.
After some family photos, Marc and Kayla wandered around outside in the sunshine for some photos together, before joining up with their families again.
It was wonderful, and so heartfelt. I am so glad that I was able to document their Ottawa City Hall wedding for them.
