Phil and Alyssa’s Ramada On the Rideau wedding in Septemberwas so much fun! It may have been the rainiest day of the month (maybe even the entire summer) but it was so full of love, family, and laughter that it didn’t matter.
The men got ready in record time, and enjoyed cigars and scotch outside before the rain. Phil was wearing his late grandfather’s kilt for the ceremony. How special is that? I love when a couple incorporates personal and meaningful touches throughout the day.
Phil and Alyssa had a ‘first look’ prior to the ceremony. If you are on the fence about first look at your own wedding – I encourage you to go for it! It is so emotional and intimate to have time together, just the two of you, before the ceremony. All of the jitters and nerves disappear. It is like an instant calm; everyone is relaxed, happy, and ready for the ceremony. The photos from Alyssa and Phil’s first look are my favourite from the entire day.
Ramada on the Rideau has a beautiful property. The ceremony was moved inside as a result of the rain. But regardless, it was so personal and sentimental. Alyssa and Phil wrote their own vows, so it is safe to say there was not a single dry eye in the room. And the Minister? A family friend who played the bag pipes as Alyssa and Phil walked back down the aisle together. Like come on! So cool.
After the bridal party and family photos, we snuck down to the dock. It was wet and slippery, but the rain had let up a tiny bit so we took full advantage of the few minutes we had and got some great shots of Phil and Alyssa down by the water. So yes, it rained, all day. But no, it didn’t matter. The ceremony was beautiful and intimate, and we were able to take advantage of the beautiful property throughout the day and get some outdoor shots. This Ramada on the Rideau wedding was beautiful, from start to finish.
I love working with these two (you may remember their Byward Market engagement session from the Spring). Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them.
Thank you, Phil and Alyssa!
