A winter engagement in Ottawa? This one was a good one!
You never know what you’re going to get during an Ottawa winter, and this year was no exception. We had everything from freezing rain, polar vortexes, ice rain, and an insane amount of snow. Luckily, Mat & Brianna got the perfect snowfall for their winter engagement session and it was right out of a storybook.
Not knowing what the day would bring, we had planned to start in their home for some cozy at-home photos, and then if the weather was okay we would head to a nearby outdoor space. Starting at home is such a fun way to ease into your photo session. When you’re at home, you’re comfortable and relaxed. Plus, when you’ve got cute pets like these two, it’s a great way to include them in your photos. Apollo (their husky pup) wanted to be in the middle of the action and it was hilarious.
After getting some in-home photos we headed for a nearby trail. The way the snow was piled on the trees was so beautiful. And the snow was still falling, just enough to stick to your jacket and in your hair, it was so perfect. Ah, it really was the storybook winter snowfall. So we trudged through the snow, laughed, held out our hands for the chickadees, and soaked it all in. Regardless of how you feel about winter, you can’t deny that it is beautiful!!
This winter engagement in Ottawa was perfect, and I’m so glad we didn’t let a little snow (okay it was a lot) keep us from getting out and enjoying it.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog post with some tips of how to make the most of your winter engagement session. Check it out here.
