I don’t even know if I have the words to describe Brett & Leigha’s summer farm wedding. So, for the most part, I will let the photos speak for themselves.
But I will say this… I will never get over this wedding. Just going through the images to include in this blog post had me in tears again. It was, hands down, the most emotional and beautiful wedding I have ever had the honour of documenting. For those who don’t know Brett & Leigha – they’ve known each other almost their entire lives. They grew up in the same small town, and Leigha’s childhood best friend is none other than Brett’s sister (who was Leigha’s maid of honour). So this day was two of the loveliest families – who have known each other forever – coming together to celebrate and it was so overwhelmingly beautiful.
First looks can be emotional, but they’re not always tear-jerkers. I didn’t know what to expect, but I can tell you this, I was NOT prepared for how emotional it was going to be. Like I don’t know how I managed to get any photos in focus through my tears.
Fun fact: Leigha didn’t want her girls to have to buy new bridesmaids dresses. They’ve all been bridesmaids multiple times before, so she just asked them to re-use or borrow a grey dress that they already had. Like what??!! I absolutely LOVE the idea and the thoughtfulness on Leigha’s part. I think it turned out so beautifully.
Next, we were off to the family farm for the festivities. After seeing Brett & Leigha’s home earlier this summer, I knew that the decor at the wedding would be perfection. So cozy and beautiful. I know a ton of work went into getting the property ready, and it paid off. Seriously a dream.
Guests enjoyed beverages while they waited for the ceremony to begin. The ceremony, like the first look, was crazy emotional – in the best of ways. Brett’s grandfather acted as the ring bearer, Leigha and her father arrived in a vintage car, the vows were hand written, and there wasn’t a dry eye on the property.
After the ceremony, there was time for more photos of Brett & Leigha on the farm, they had time to mingle with their guests during cocktail hour, and the speeches throughout dinner were the best I’ve ever heard. One after the other they were thoughtful, funny, inspiring, and so full of love. Again, I’m pretty sure I cried through every single speech. This day. I just can’t. Forever grateful to have been trusted with documenting this perfect day.
I’ll let the rest of the photos speak for themselves.
So basically, I cried the whole day. And I’d be down for another summer farm wedding. Like, a lot more. XOX
